During the winter, the American Bald Eagles migrate to the Midwest. These eagles arrive from Canada and Alaska. They like to settle near waters that are not frozen so that they can find fish. One of the eagles' hangouts are south of the various locks and dams on the Mississippi River. This eagle was viewed at Lock and Dam 21 in Quincy, Illinois. South of the locks and dam, the water does not freeze. The eagles are able to find fish for their food. The winter of 2014 has had a prolific amount of eagles because of the extremely cold temperatures that have occurred.
