The Mississippi River is a vital part of the small city of Quincy, Illinois. Connecting Illinois with its neighbor Missouri is one of two bridges- This one is Bayview Bridge which takes western bound traffic to Missouri on US 24.
This bridge has unique features. It is the first hybrid cable stayed bridge in the USA. It is also the first to employ H-shaped towers with wall anchors, epoxy coating in the in the cable stays, and precast post-tensioned deck panels.
We are very fond of this bridge which has become a frequent subject for photography and fine art.
